Role
Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Growth Officer (CGO) is responsible for driving growth and revenue across all of Virgin Galactic’s business lines, with a primary focus on engaging and converting individuals looking to become part of humanity’s future in space. The CGO will also oversee the company’s research and institutional sales efforts, ensuring that Virgin Galactic remains the premier platform for scientific research in suborbital space. This role requires a strategic, results-driven leader who will :
- Align brand storytelling to enhance market positioning
- Develop direct and partner sales channels to grow customer acquisition
- Engage customers with innovative product offerings that enhance customer experience while accelerating top line growth
Responsibilities
Strategic LeadershipEstablish and execute Virgin Galactic’s growth strategy across all revenue channels by integrating and maximizing sales and marketing effortsBuild a high-performing commercial team focused on selling astronaut experiences, research missions, and related services to adventurers, high-net-worth individuals and institutionsSales Strategy and PipelineDevelop strategies and partnerships to attract, onboard, and cultivate relationships with future astronauts, ensuring a seamless and inspiring journey from interest to mission participationOversee direct sales strategies ranging from top-of-the-funnel efforts to data-driven pipeline management and high touch personal engagementsDevelop value-enhancing global sales channel partnerships that extend consumer outreachLead product development efforts to align product attributes and price characteristics across various sales channelsResearch & Institutional PartnershipsExpand and strengthen relationships with researchers, academic institutions, and government agencies, positioning Virgin Galactic as a premier platform for space-based researchDevelop innovative strategies to expand scientific research flights, securing contracts and partnerships for microgravity research, atmospheric studies, and life sciences experimentationMarketing & Brand LeadershipOversee all brand marketing, digital performance marketing, and Virgin Galactic’s in-house creative studio to ensure a unified compelling market presenceDrive targeted marketing campaigns that enhance thought leadership, increase brand visibility, and position Virgin Galactic as the leader in human-first space experiencesLead partnerships with strategic luxury brands, influencers, and media. Passion and ambition to establish the premier human spaceflight company within the fast-growing commercial space industry15+ years of experience in growth leadership roles with deep sales experience, ideally in relevant categories such as luxury and adventure travel, private aviation, luxury automotive / yacht / aviation or related industriesProven track record scaling revenue and building customer acquisition strategies targeting high-net-worth individualsStrong leadership integrating sales, marketing, and communications functions to drive revenue and brand equity simultaneouslyProven experience developing and executing long-term growth strategies while achieving short-term revenue goalsExceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence high-profile customers and corporate partnersDemonstrated experience building high-performing teams in a fast-paced environmentTechnology & Tools

The annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $475,000.00–$525,000.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity. Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
