The Machinist C primary functions are to fabricate, maintain, repair, and / or alters metal parts and metal objects using a variety of hand tools and metalworking machines.

Job Duties :

• Manufacturing parts from different materials to the drawings supplied.
• Handling of raw and stock materials from delivery to completion of parts.
• Maintaining tolerances as close as +- .005.
• Daily production of saw cutting, milling, turning, drilling, tapping, reaming, slotting, deburring, sanding, and grinding.
• Sets up and operates metalworking machines such as lathes and milling machines to machine parts to established specifications.
• Performs related duties such as cleaning work area, tools, and equipment; maintaining records and logs; and drawing sketches of metal parts or metal components to be machined.
• Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock following blueprints, diagrams and / or specifications and using square rule and scribe to prepare metal for machining operations.
• Sets up and operates metalworking machines such as lathes and milling machines to machine parts to established specifications.
• Reviews plans, specifications, diagrams, etc. to determine dimensions and tolerances of metal components to be machined and to determine the tools, materials and equipment required to complete assigned project.
• Other duties as assigned.
