Continuing Non-Tenure Track - Public Relations / Advertising
The Department of Communication at Villanova University seeks applicants for a continuing, non-tenure track position in Public Relations / Advertising, at the rank of Assistant Instructor or Assistant Teaching Professor, to begin Fall 2026. This position is renewable but is not eligible for tenure.
With one of the largest undergraduate majors in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, the Communication Department offers course work leading to the B.A. in Communication with opportunities to specialize in eight different areas of the discipline (Interpersonal / Intercultural Communication, Journalism, Media Production, Media Studies, Organizational Communication, Performance Studies, Public Relations / Advertising, and Rhetoric). In addition, the Department supports a M.A. program in Communication. Our faculty prides itself on excellence in teaching and research and seeks to cultivate a supportive, collegial work environment.

Duties and Responsibilities :
- The position will require teaching undergraduate, and possibly graduate, courses on a 4-4 teaching load. Our new colleague will teach courses within our Public Relations / Advertising concentration, including but not limited to Public Relations (introduction), Advertising, and PR Writing. Opportunities may be available to teach and develop other courses in the candidate’s area of expertise.
- Our new colleague will also serve as faculty advisor to our chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA). Service responsibilities will include student advising and mentoring, as well as other duties and committees assigned by the Department.
Minimum Qualifications :
Basic requirements : M.A. in Public Relations and / or Advertising preferred, M.A. in Communication strongly considered; earned doctorate in related area is a favorable supplemental consideration. Candidates must have successful, content-area relevant, college-level teaching experience and demonstrated expertise in public relations and advertising.Candidates should also show expertise / experience teaching introductory level Communication classes. In addition to courses in the PR / Ad area, the successful applicant will teach sections of our undergraduate course, Survey of Communication. Students interested in our major start with this core entry class. The course consists of the basic concepts of Communication as well as an introduction to the eight concentrations our department offers.Preferred Qualifications :
