Overview
This is a professional clinical position providing counseling and services to adults and families in the Baby CAT program under the Families First Division. BabyCAT is a community service program that works in-home with parents seeking to understand their children's behaviors, keep children safe, reduce potential involvement with child welfare, DJJ, or other involuntary or court systems. The focus is on parents or caregivers who have at least one child age 0-5.
This is a field position. The Counselor for Baby Children's Action Team is responsible for meeting an annual client-facing client care hours target of 1,316 hours. Achieving the minimum required weekly, monthly and annual client-facing client care hours is an essential function of this position.
Directions for Living is an essential services provider. All Directions for Living employees must be willing and able to provide vital support and essential services to the people we serve in the event of an emergency, pandemic or other disaster situation.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical interventions directed at safety concerns that bring the parent or caregiver to the attention of child welfare, using natural supports, community supports, and input / resources from other community partners or professional agencies.
- Work as a member of an Integrated Decision Team (IDT) with a Counselor, a Behavioral Health Case Manager, and an IDT facilitator.
- Ensure the youth and family have an individualized, strength-based treatment plan built collaboratively with the IDT members and reviewed during IDT sessions.
- Report and discuss progress, barriers, interventions, safety issues, and other information important to resolving safety concerns with the IDT.
- Deliver services using trauma-informed care principles and address how trauma impacts family functioning; incorporate trauma resolution skills.
- Provide culturally and linguistically competent services tailored to the culture of the child and family.
- Deliver clinical services in community settings convenient for the family.
- Meet the annual client-facing care hours requirement and adhere to related standards.
Qualifications
Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or related field required.CAP certification preferred.
Must take the Wraparound for Clinicians Training (3 hours) within 30 days of employment; preference given to those who have already completed this training.Ability to provide clinical interventions with adults and children manifesting a range of psychopathology using individual, family, play, and group therapies, and knowledge of child development.Knowledge of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused-CBT and other evidence-based treatments.Knowledge of community resources.Experience with families and children; Early Childhood Education experience preferred.Education Experience / Requirements
