Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Japanese Literature and Culture
Rutgers University–New Brunswick invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor in Japanese Literature and Culture, beginning September 1, 2026. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Japanese with a specialty in literature, cultural studies, film studies, and / or visual cultures. The Ph.D. must be completed by the beginning of the appointment (September 1, 2026).

Salary and Benefits
The academic year salary for an assistant professor will not be less than $82,110. Rutgers offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, prescription drug, and dental coverage; paid vacation, holidays, and various leave programs; retirement benefits; and employee and dependent educational benefits. Final salary offers are contingent on qualifications, experience, and available funds.
