Requirements :
Current and unrestricted Illinois Medical License (MD or DO)
Board Certification in Internal Medicine, Family Practice, or related specialty
DEA license and controlled substance registration
Current CPR certification
Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience, including supervisory or leadership experience preferred
Knowledge of NCCHC and ACA standards and correctional healthcare practices
Preferred Qualifications :
Prior experience providing medical oversight in correctional, institutional, or public health environments
Strong leadership and communication skills
Demonstrated ability to coordinate interdisciplinary healthcare delivery
Experience in developing clinical protocols and ensuring regulatory compliance
Responsibilities :
Serve as the senior clinical authority for all medical services within the facility
Provide clinical oversight, direction, and evaluation of physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff
Review and approve policies, procedures, and treatment protocols to ensure compliance with standards of care
Conduct patient consultations and provide direct care when required
Supervise the medical aspects of intake screening, chronic disease management, and emergency response
Participate in quality assurance, performance improvement, and morbidity / mortality reviews
Collaborate with administrative leadership to ensure adequate staffing, resource utilization, and training
Serve as liaison between healthcare staff and correctional administration to ensure continuity of operations
Ensure compliance with NCCHC, ACA, and applicable federal and state regulations
Maintain documentation and records in accordance with professional and legal requirements
Any other duties as assigned.
