Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Neuro Med / Surg Tele RN with an active IL RN license, neuro experience, and recent Epic proficiency for night shifts.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Position based in a hospital's 22-bed Neuro unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 : 4
  • Cares for neuro and neuro-surgical patients including CVA, elective back / neck surgeries, and cerebral angiograms, as well as general medical overflow
  • Required to float to the medical unit as needed
  • Shifts are 12-hour nights with every other weekend and holiday scheduled
  • Epic is used for charting and recent experience with this EMR is required
  • Charge nurse will also have a patient assignment
  • Responsibilities include strong neuro assessments, dysphagia screening, strict I's & O's, catheter care, heparin drip initiation and titration, blood product administration, venipuncture, and management of NG tubes and drains
  • Must be comfortable managing both neuro and medical-surgical overflow patients
  • Critical thinking skills and adaptability are essential for this fast-paced unit
  • Every other holiday coverage is required
  • Scrub color for this unit is navy blue
  • COVID-19 vaccination is not required at this time but is subject to change

  • Active Illinois RN license required
  • Current AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum two years of strong Med / Surg Tele experience including neuro care required
  • At least one prior travel assignment required
  • Recent experience with Epic EMR required
  • Must be skilled in neuro assessments, basic telemetry interpretation, dysphagia screening, and medical device management
  • Candidates must reside more than 40 miles from the facility
