Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a compact or AZ state license, with at least 2 years of recent ER / trauma experience and current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications.
Responsibilities
Position is in a 31-bed emergency room within an acute care hospital settingPatient ratios are 1 : 3-4Care for a diverse patient population including adult and pediatric emergency cases, trauma, cardiac, stroke, high risk OB, and behavioral health holdsUtilizes GE Lifepacks for telemetry monitoringVentilator models used include Puritan Benette 840, Dreager, Vision Bipap, and V60sCerner EMR is used; prior Cerner experience is preferred but not required12-hour shifts with varied start times including days, mids, and nights; flexibility with start time is requiredEvery other weekend and 2 out of 3 major holidays requiredFloating required between nearby ER locations (within 7 miles)Floor-specific orientation provided over 2-3 daysResponsibilities include emergency care for a broad range of acute conditions such as MVAs, GSWs, strokes, cardiac events, OB emergencies, pediatric cases, and behavioral healthTeam structure includes charge nurse, unit secretary, paramedics, CNAs, 2–6 physicians, and 2–4 midlevels per shift24 / 7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy available, with ER pharmacist support during weekdaysMust wear navy scrubs as dress codeOrientation includes a simulation lab and floor orientationHoliday coverage required for 2 out of 3 major holidays in the holiday seasonRequirements
Active AZ or compact RN license in hand at time of considerationMinimum 2 years of recent ER / trauma experience requiredCurrent certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS (or ENPC) requiredModerate conscious sedation competency must be demonstratedPass / Fail simulation lab and sterile technique testing required on day 1 of orientationMust pass the Prophecy Dysrhythmia Exam prior to acceptance, with a maximum of 2 attemptsTwo professional references required : one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 yearsMust reside at least 50 miles from the facilityCandidates who have held full-time, part-time, or PRN employment with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity in the past year are not eligibleBenefits
