Occupational Health Medical Office Assistant / Occupational Health / Per Diem Under the direction of the Occupational Health Department Director, the medical office assistant is responsible for clerical and clinical functions to assist with maintaining efficient patient flow, and assisting the Occupational Health staff, nurses and physicians to provide exceptional patient care.
Job Duties :
- Answers telephone, schedules appointments, and directs calls.
- Collects patient information and establishes patient chart. Maintains patient charts and files patient records appropriately.
- Assists staff in obtaining reports and forms from other departments and transporting specimens to the lab. Enters patient and employer data into the computer system.
- Enters charges, payments and adjustments into the computer on a regular basis.
- Sends appropriate billing forms to clients, Managed Care Organizations, and Bureau of Workers' Compensation.
- Communicates on an ongoing basis with Accounting and Patient Accounts departments.
