American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department position requiring recent ER / trauma experience and flexible shift scheduling.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 60-bed Level 1 Trauma Emergency Room with 14 fast track bedsPatient population includes trauma, MVAs, GSW, strokes, MI, high-risk OB, psych, and 11% pediatricsNurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 3-4Facility uses Cerner EMR and GE Lifepacks telemetry monitorsRequired to work 12-hour shifts with varying start times (flexible to days, mids, and nights)Minimum of 4 weekend shifts per schedule period and must work 2 of 3 major holidays during the seasonMay float between two ERs located within 7 miles of each otherUses ventilators including Puritan Benette 840, Draeger, Vision Bipap, and V60sBedside triage is performedResponsibilities include high-acuity patient care, trauma stabilization, and conscious sedations for closed fracturesTeam includes charge nurses, unit secretaries, nurse aides, paramedics, and 24 / 7 RT and pharmacy supportChest pain and certified stroke centerFloor-specific orientation provided (2-3 days)Scrub color is navyFirst-time travelers are not specified, experience and completion of required exams / orientation are mandatoryHoliday coverage required for at least two major holidays\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of applicationMinimum 2 years of recent Level 1 Trauma ER experience within the past yearCurrent ACLS, BLS, TNCC (or ATCN), and PALS (or ENPC) requiredMust be competent with moderate conscious sedation and dysrhythmia recognitionAbility to pass a dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of receiving offer (2 attempts maximum)Must pass a pass / fail simulation lab on the first day of orientationAbility to pass sterile technique tests for Foley insertion and central line dressing changesMust provide a copy of driver's license for considerationTwo professional references required : one supervisor from within the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 yearsMay not have been directly employed (FT, PT, PRN) by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities within the past yearMust reside at least 50 miles from the facility as determined by driver's license\n Benefits\n
