Maintenance Worker I- Roads

Job Title

Performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled physical labor and other duties including maintenance, repair, construction and cleanup activities. NOTE : This position may be required to work weekends and / or holidays on occasion.

Education & Experience / Licensing & Training

Education & Experience : High School Diploma or GED and any combination of training, education, and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the functions of the position which includes knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods and procedures used in maintenance, construction and repair activities. Licensing & Training :

• Valid State Driver's License at time of hire
• Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of hire
• National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) training based on assignment.
• Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to read printed materials and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to hear, and use professional speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Work Environments : The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to extremely hot weather, wet and / or humid conditions, and vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The employee may also be required to work in roadways while directing traffic and permit required confined spaces after receiving the required training.
