This position performs technical duties in the inspection of public and private projects.
- Conducts site visits to determine compliance with all applicable government ordinances, codes, and requirements.
- Reviews proposed utility permits to ensure they meet all applicable guidelines.
- Maintains daily logs and accurate records, monitors schedules, personnel, and subcontractors of active utility projects.
- Provides the public with information concerning ongoing utility work, in person, in writing, and by telephone.
- Provide guidance to engineering firms, land developers, and provide homeowners with assistance and information. Investigate citizen complaints to ascertain the civil or personal nature of the matter in question.
- Attends scheduled meetings with appropriate personnel to receive information and instructions on people applying for permits.
- Assists with the annual resurfacing, guardrail, and sidewalk programs.
- Performs residential and commercial driveway inspections along with Minor Land Disturbance permits.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of engineering terminology andapplications related to inspections.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices ofbasic surveying.

- Skill in researching, compiling, and summarizinga variety of informational and statistical data and materials.

Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the occupational field, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship / internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia or Alabama for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Ability to obtain a Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission Red Card for a regulatory erosion and sediment control inspector.
The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk ortable or while intermittently sitting, standing, bending, crouching, orstooping. The employee occasionally lifts heavy objects, climbs ladders, usestools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and must distinguishbetween shades of color.
