In July 2024, GMIN has acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.

Training Officer
The Training Officer is responsible for planning, delivering, and evaluating training programs to enhance the skills, knowledge, and safety awareness of mining specific roles. This role ensures compliance with industry regulations and company policies while promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional growth. This position requires strong knowledge of Health and safety in the workplace, adult learning principles, mining operations, and the ability to adapt training delivery to a diverse workforce.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development of competency-based training materials, including manuals, e-learning modules, presentations and hands-on practical sessions.
- Maintain accurate training records and databases to ensure compliance with company, regulatory, and legal requirements.
- Monitor and evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, on-the-job observations, and feedback.
- Organizing and executing corporate programs using innovative methodologies tailored to audience and content.
- Conducting competency and potential assessments to identify skill gaps and talent opportunities.
- Overseeing the training performance evaluation process using a dedicated system.
- Evaluating training effectiveness through feedback and impact assessments.
- Ensuring adherence to the established training plan.
- Work closely with Training and Development Coordinator, and operations teams to identify training needs.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the organization.
- Contribute to the development of a strong safety culture across the operation.
Qualifications / Skills and Experience
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree, Education, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field (or equivalent experience).Certification in Training & Assessment (e.g., Train-the-Trainer or equivalent) requiredAt least 3-5 years of experience in training within a technical field, heavy industry, or construction sectorExcellent communication and presentation skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, e-learning platforms, and multimedia training tools.Working Conditions
