The Opportunity

Black & Veatch is seeking a Power System Protection Engineer with 2 years of experience to join our Protective Relay Settings team. The ideal candidate has an understanding of Protection & Control (P&C) design concepts, familiarity with relay manufacturer software platforms, and familiarity with system modeling software.

Candidates located near any Black & Veatch Regional Office may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Engineering Standards : Continues to learn and remains current on departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and Black & Veatch policies and procedures.
• Engineering Standards : Applies to assigned tasks as appropriate.
• Quality / Continuous Improvement : Develops knowledge and complies with Black & Veatch quality program relative to assigned tasks.
• Quality / Continuous Improvement : Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts.
• Engineering Production : Prepares and verifies less complex engineering deliverables.
• Engineering Production : Performs research and develops recommendations for equipment and / or materials selection.
• Engineering Production : Collects, assimilates, and manages data for engineering work.
• Engineering Production : Prepares engineering calculations following standard methods and principles.
• Engineering Production : Understands and adheres to budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
• Project Coordination : Seeks supervisor or project leadership to share information and gain guidance with respect to design details and interdisciplinary coordination.
• Project Coordination : Coordinates with others as assigned by supervisor or project leadership.
• Client Focus : Focuses on the needs of internal clients (project team leadership) while developing an understanding of external client interests and drivers.
• Client Focus : May provide support to business development or pursuit activities.
