Job Description
Job Description
Randolph-Macon College, a private, co-educational liberal arts institution, invites applications for Standardized Patients in our Physician Assistant (PA) Program and our Nursing Program. The Standardized Patient (SP) is a person trained to portray a patient in a realistic and consistent, or “standardized,” way during encounters that simulate actual patient care scenarios. SPs will interact with PA and Nursing learners in a variety of patient scenarios for the instruction and assessment of clinical skills and clinical decision-making. Through training provided by PA Program and / or Nursing Program personnel, SPs will consistently and accurately recreate a patient history in response to learner questioning and, in some cases, provide feedback for learners in their communication and physical exam skills. The physical exam will be limited, non-invasive, and clearly defined prior to the SP event. The specific ‘character’ needs vary by SP event, and frequency of work will vary based on the needs of the PA Program and Nursing Program.
