What to Expect
The Sensing Hardware Team is seeking an electrical engineer specializing in RF or radar system design with 3+ years of industry experience. This role will primarily focus on developing advanced radar-based in-cabin sensing technologies for safety and wellness features. As a Sensor Hardware Engineer, you will be responsible for the overall performance of the sensing system and its features at any point in the product life cycle; serve as the owner of a given sensing system to address any issues discovered from development through deployment; understand and debug hardware and software interactions from prototyping through product launch; and manage priorities and support a host of projects simultaneously.
What You\'ll Do
- Specification generation : distill sensor product requirements into constraints and actionable engineering systems design discussions
- Collaboration : lead cross-functional sensor design discussions with electrical, software, antenna design, EMC, reliability, thermal, and mechanical, supply chain and manufacturing teams
- Architecture definition : translate sensor design discussions into design documents in the form of system block diagrams, functional and performance requirements
- Design and develop RF hardware / system and / or antenna characterization for sensors
- Schematic & PCB Layout : Review schematics and guide layout from RF perspective, perform impedance matching, bring up and validate wireless hardware
- BOM definition : work with the supply chain team to ensure components will meet performance, cost & manufacturing requirements
- Prototyping : support early sensor prototype development to de-risk modern technologies
- Validation : generate / execute the test plan that includes milestones that focus on de-risking product and / or feature deployment and align with the program timeline
- Qualification : ensure the hardware meets required design criteria across a host of environments and regulations while collaborating with the reliability, test and homologation teams
- Production : work with manufacturing / test teams and suppliers to achieve high-volume mass production with high yield
What You\'ll Bring
Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experienceDeep understanding of system-level RF Parameters (e.g. power, sensitivity, throughput, latency etc.) in at least one of the wireless technologiesHands-on experience with RF lab test instrumentsKnowledge of RF hardware design or antenna characterization and experience reviewing RF schematics and PCB layouts to ensure adherence to best practicesDebugging experience with wireless radio systems at the conducted or radiated levelKnowledge of multi-radio co-existence and RF desense mitigationExperience with Power Management for sensing HW and knowledge of dcdc converters, LDOs for supply management on complex boardsProven cross-functional collaboration and leadership skillsProficiency in MATLAB, Python, SPICE, or similar simulation and modeling tools as well as data visualization and statistical analysisExperience in high-volume mass production and collaboration with suppliers and contract manufacturersCompensation and Benefits
