Robotics Engineering Intern - The Toro Company

The 2026 Summer Internship Program will run from May 18, 2026, through August 7, 2026. Candidates must be available to start on May 18 and participate through the duration of the program.

The Center for Technology Research and Innovation (CTRI) is at the forefront of moving Toro into a new generation of autonomous operations. This specific position is a part of the CTRI division, and the candidate will assist in a number of areas including autonomous ground vehicle navigation, computer vision, including visual odometry and segmentation, simulation, and real-time software development.

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for :

Assist engineers in development of detailed simulation environments, computer vision, real-time embedded software, and working prototypes for autonomous applications

Perform engineering analysis on visual odometry, object detection / recognition, and segmentation.

Work with embedded hardware and software to create prototypes for evaluation.

Review research literature and develop solutions to applicable problems

What Do You Need?

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements :

Senior or Masters level in robotics, computer science, aerospace, mechanical, or other degrees with background in autonomous vehicles, perception solutions, navigation, and sensor fusion.

Experience with computer vision, including object detection and recognition, and image segmentation

Experience with Matlab / Simulink, C / C++, Python, Linux and Windows

Familiarity with simulation environments : ex. Isaac Sim, Unity, UnReal Engine

Familiarity with Kalman Filters (EKF, UKF), particle filters, factor graph filter, etc

Self-motivation and ability to work independently

Strong problem-solving skills

• Enjoy a flexible schedule during the summer! By working a little more during the first few days of the week, TTC employees at certain locations are able to start their weekends early and leave by noon on Friday.

Competitive Pay anticipated pay $22.00-$33.00 per hour.
