Job Summary

Under the direction of the Occupational Therapist, a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant provides habilitation or rehabilitation occupational therapy services to patients.

Job Duties

Performs patient care and completes documentation in a timely manner and within insurance guidelines

Demonstrates critical thinking skills and reasoning process in carrying out the plan of care

Assists and instructs patients in pushing wheelchair, supporting or lifting, positioning in and out of bed and other activities of daily living

Assists in specialized motor or self-help activities, constructs supportive or assistive devices

Observes patient for signs of distress and adjusts activities accordingly

Prepares clinical notes and progress reports

Instructs patient, family and other team members in proper use of assistive equipment, prosthetic devices and adaptation devices

Qualifications

Must be a graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program

Must have current valid license as an Occupational Therapy Assistant by the state(s) of practice

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills

Must have basic computer skills

Must have strong interpersonal skills

Must have knowledge of the regulatory requirements at the state, federal, and local level
