Research Information Security Analyst

Overview

Research Information Security Analyst at Inside Higher Ed. This position supports research compliance and safeguards IT systems across a complex academic environment.

Location : Lexington, KY. Type : Full-Time, Staff. Work schedule : Monday–Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. – 5 : 00 p.m.

Responsibilities

• Conduct technical security assessments of servers, endpoints, cloud platforms, and specialized laboratory equipment to ensure compliance with frameworks such as NIST SP 800-171, CMMC, DFARS, and other federal requirements.
• Manage vulnerability remediation efforts, review penetration testing and scan results, and partner with enterprise IT teams to design secure infrastructures that balance operational needs with regulatory obligations.
• Bridge evolving federal cybersecurity policy and practical research workflows by translating regulations into actionable technical controls, providing training, and offering consultative guidance to faculty and staff.
• Maintain detailed documentation of compliance activities, prepare evidence for internal and external audits, and recommend process improvements to strengthen overall security posture.
