Summary
We are seeking an experienced Tooling Engineer to design, develop, and maintain aluminum tooling for glass and carbon fiber composite manufacturing. This role plays a critical part in ensuring precision, durability, and efficiency in tooling while driving improvements in production processes. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in composite materials, CAD design, and manufacturing methods to support high-quality, cost-effective tooling solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop aluminum tooling for composite manufacturing processes, ensuring optimal performance, precision, and durability.
- Partner with manufacturing teams to enhance tool performance, reduce cycle times, and improve composite part quality.
- Apply knowledge of aluminum alloys and carbon fiber prepregs to select appropriate materials, finishes, and treatments for tooling applications.
- Oversee prototype fabrication, conduct testing, and validate designs against production and performance requirements.
- Develop maintenance schedules and repair procedures to extend tool life and maintain consistent performance.
- Work closely with design engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to ensure tools meet specifications and industry standards.
- Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to support manufacturing and quality processes.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.3–5 years of experience in tooling design, with specific focus on aluminum tools for composite manufacturing (compression molding and resin transfer molding preferred).Technical Skills :Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD, or equivalent).
Strong understanding of composite manufacturing processes (lay-up, curing, trimming).Familiarity with CNC machining, EDM, and other fabrication techniques.Solid knowledge of material properties for aluminum and composites.J-18808-Ljbffr
