Summary : MUSC Health – Florence Medical Center is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider for its Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine practice. The candidate will provide a full range of diagnostic, surgical and rehabilitative services for injuries and disorders of the skeletal system and associated bones, joints, tendons, muscles, ligaments and nerves.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care including taking comprehensive history and performing physical examinations.
- Evaluate and treat based on history, physical examination, radiology, laboratory and other diagnostic results per the practice agreement or scope of practice guidelines.
- Initiate referrals to other providers and consult with the attending or collaborating physician.
- Document and bill for direct care provided.
- Utilize current research and evidence-based decision-making in clinical practice.
- Participate in quality / performance improvement activities and clinical research.
- Support accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization.
- Engage in professional development and continuing education; may precept students and help onboard new team members.
- Maintain licenses, certifications and CME requirements as required by policy and state law.
- First or second assist in the operating room and assist with monitoring devices as applicable.
- Initiate emergency care in inpatient and outpatient settings until the supervising physician arrives; manage patient discharge planning and follow-up.
- Assess emergency conditions and, with the attending physician, implement management.
- Provide pre- and post-operative patient education to patients and families.
- Coordinate communication with referring or primary care physicians regarding patient care and treatment.
- Provide follow-up and health maintenance care, including medication adjustments per established protocols or physician instructions.
Qualifications
Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and current license or eligible licensure as a Physician Assistant, or completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program and current APRN licensure or eligibility as noted.APRN License Type / Certification : FNP (Family NP) : lifespan primary care and management of stable chronic diseases.Preferred Training : AGACNP / ACNP (Adult Gerontology Acute Care NP / Acute Care NP) : adults 13 years to death; acutely ill or injured; equipment needs (vents, drips, monitors, etc.). The NP must hold an RNFA certification upon hire to assist in the operating room.Experience in Orthopaedics preferred.Supervision : APN or PA will report to a Primary Supervising / Collaborating Physician employed by MUSC.Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations : BLS, ACLS, DHEC and DEA license.Physical Requirements
Continuous : ability to stand, walk, and sit; bend, kneel, climb stairs; manual dexterity; ability to tolerate PPE and work indoors; vision 20 / 40 corrected; lift / carry up to 50 lbs; may operate in dusty areas or confined spaces as needed.
