Job Title : HR Generalist

Reports to : HR Director Status : Non-Exempt Location : Austin, TX (On-site)

Position Summary

Child Inc. is seeking an organized, people-driven HR Generalist with a strong focus on full-cycle recruiting and HR compliance to join our Human Resources team. This role plays a key part in attracting top talent, supporting hiring managers throughout the selection process, and ensuring all pre-employment and onboarding documentation is compliant and complete. The HR Generalist will also assist with maintaining HR records, coordinating background checks, and supporting the overall goals of the HR Department.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment & Staffing (Primary Focus – ~70%)

  • Manage the full-cycle recruiting process for multiple positions across the agency, including posting jobs, sourcing candidates, conducting phone screens, and coordinating in-person interviews.
  • Partner with hiring managers to ensure a smooth and professional candidate experience from application to offer.
  • Draft and send offer letters and manage the acceptance and onboarding process.
  • Collect and verify all onboarding documents (I-9s, background checks, credentials, education, etc.) for compliance and personnel file completion.
  • Maintain an active pipeline of qualified candidates through various recruitment channels and community outreach.
  • Track and report recruitment metrics to the HR Director to identify trends and areas for improvement.

HR Compliance & Recordkeeping (~20%)

  • Ensure all new hires meet federal and state compliance requirements, including background checks, fingerprinting, and employment eligibility verification.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records.
  • Support HR audits, file maintenance, and document retention schedules.
  • Keep agency-wide employment law and compliance postings up to date.
  • HR Support & Administrative Tasks (~10%)

  • Enter and maintain employee data in the HRIS system, including new hires, status changes, and terminations.
  • Provide HR support to employees and managers, responding to general HR inquiries with professionalism and discretion.
  • Assist with HR projects, reporting, and other duties as assigned by the HR Director.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 3–4 years of experience in full-cycle recruiting or generalist-level HR work.
  • Knowledge of employment laws, HR best practices, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with diverse candidates and staff members.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems (Paycom, ADP, or similar).
  • Bilingual (English / Spanish) preferred.
  • Must successfully pass all required background checks.
