Responsibilities Work in a hospital Med / Surg Telemetry unit Patient population includes spinal stenosis, PVD, diabetic ulcers, lung carcinoma, and pleural effusions Normal nurse-to-patient ratios are 5 : 1 for day / evening and 6-7 : 1 for nights, with higher stretch ratios during high census PCTs support all units with vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and activities of daily living In-house phlebotomy team handles all peripheral lab draws; nursing manages PICC lines and central lines Use of Epic EMR is preferred Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19 : 00–07 : 00 Required to work every other weekend Float required to other Med / Surg units within scope No local candidates within 75 miles Care for varied Med / Surg Telemetry cases using comprehensive nursing skills Maintain proper isolation precautions, oxygen therapy, and use of portable oxygen equipment Scrub colors are any combination of navy and white No on-call requirement Only one week of requested time off allowed per contract First-time travelers accepted if Epic experience is present Not open to local candidates within 75 miles Requirements Active NY RN license required at submission Minimum of 1 year Med / Surg Tele experience required Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias Experience with Rapid Response Teams, peripheral line care, central line management, and non-invasive airway management required Experience with Epic EMR preferred; first-time US travelers must have Epic experience Cannot accept candidates with pending license Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-619964.
