Position Overview :
Serve as the forefront librarian for undergraduate research on campus. Analyze patrons' requests to determine needed information, and assist in furnishing or locating that information. Search standard reference materials, including online sources and the Internet, to answer patrons' reference questions. Teach library patrons basic computer skills, such as searching computerized databases. Plan and teach classes on topics such as information literacy, bibliographic instruction, and technology use. Provide reference and instruction services in physical and virtual mediums. Review and evaluate materials, using book reviews, catalogs, faculty recommendations, and current holdings, to select and order print, audiovisual, and electronic resources. Locate unusual or unique information in response to specific requests. Explain use of library facilities, resources, equipment, and services, and provide information about library policies. Design and create physical and virtual research tools to promote information literacy. Reports to the Director of Research and User Engagement.
Job Duties :
Qualifications / Experience Required :
Requires a Master's degree from an ALA-accredited library program plus 3years of work experience that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts. Requires the application of expertise in a chosen field to achieve results.
Qualifications / Experience Preferred :
Teaching or library instruction experience in an academic library. Knowledge of teaching and research methodologies, such as the ACRL Framework, and their application to information literacy. Higher Education experience.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :
Ability to use current, new and emerging technologies to develop web-based and electronic services to enhance information literacy and to serve as a resource for other librarians. Ability to learn and apply new teaching technologies quickly. Demonstrated evidence of initiative and resourcefulness, have a strong customer service orientation, a proven ability to work collaboratively and independently, and a commitment to understanding and serving the needs of a diverse environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Committed to continuing and furthering education.
