Job Summary

The position is located in Petersburg, VA and will work on-site. Relocation may be offered to the successful candidate. Dominion Energy is dedicated to delivering top-tier solutions and services. We are excited to announce the opening of our state-of-the-art 17,000 square foot High Voltage Laboratory (HVL) and are looking for a talented High Voltage Testing Engineer to join our team. Job Description : As a High Voltage Engineering Technical Consultant, you will play a crucial role in the operation of our new HVL. You will be responsible for testing a wide range of electrical equipment, including power and instrument transformers, bushings, circuit breakers, GIS, cables, transmission line insulators, and capacitors. Additionally, you will conduct high voltage tests for Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of failed transmission and distribution equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain high voltage test systems, including a 3,200kV impulse generator, 1,500kV AC, and 1,200kV DC test sets.
• Design support structures for testing high voltage power equipment.
• Oversee the fabrication of design structures by contractors.
• Assist in the maintenance of selected auxiliary mechanical systems.
• Facilitate the transportation and setup of high voltage equipment for testing in the.
• Oversee HVL activities and guide technical staff.
• Develop test plans, procedures, and schedules.
• Lead test circuit setup and software operations.
• Verify electrical connections before testing.
• Enforce safety policies and improve HVL operations.
• Ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
• Participate in ISO 17025 accreditation.
• Develop calibration and maintenance programs.
• Coordinate maintenance and write / approve test reports.
• Manage inventory and software upgrades.
• Design accessories and perform literature searches if needed.
• Identify training for technical staff.
