PCU RN Job Details

Location : Hermitage, TN (Nashville metro, 37076)

Healthcare Setting : Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Observation Unit, Main Hospital Building

Unit Size : 25 beds

Patient Ratios : 4 : 1 days / 5 : 1 nights

Shift : 7 : 00 AM – 7 : 00 PM (12-hour day shifts)

Hours per Week : 36

Contract Duration : 13 weeks

Scheduling : 36 hours / week, every other weekend required

Start Date : November 3, 2025

End Date : February 2, 2026

Dress Code : Black scrubs (RN), closed-toed shoes

Awards : Daisy Award for Nurses, BEE Award for Techs, High Fives for Employees

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1440 - $1550

PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee or compact state

Minimum 1 year of recent PCU, Progressive Care, or acute care nursing experience

BLS (Basic Life Support) certification – required

ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NIH Stroke Scale, and EKG rhythm certification – required

Neuro and cardiac nursing experience preferred

Ability to float to other hospital units as needed

Proficiency with Meditech electronic documentation system

PCU RN Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality patient care in the observation unit and PCU setting

Triage acute care patients and identify life-threatening cardiac rhythms

Perform nursing procedures : glucose monitoring, Foley catheter insertion, dressing changes, EKGs, and peritoneal dialysis

Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams including RNs, techs, and unit secretaries

Utilize advanced hospital equipment : Alaris Pumps, tele-tracking, Imobile Communication, B450 Monitors, and Pyxis medication system

Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Meditech

Participate in a rotating float system to support hospital staffing needs
