Experience : 5+ years in hazardous waste & wastewater treatment experience
Pay Range : $22.00-$26.00 / hr - DOE
Job Overview :
A Hazardous Waste and Wastewater Treatment Technician handles, treats, and disposes of hazardous materials and wastewater, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and protecting public health. Key duties include operating treatment systems, performing daily monitoring and maintenance, collecting and analyzing waste samples, maintaining detailed records, and ensuring proper use of protective equipment.
Overall Responsibilities :
- Operation and Maintenance : Operate, monitor, and maintain wastewater treatment systems and hazardous waste as part of the chemical treatment process.
- Sampling and Analysis : Assist lab technician to collect samples of hazardous materials and wastewater for analysis to ensure proper treatment and compliance with regulations and perform chemical adds as necessary to maintain compliance in tanks.
- Record Keeping : Maintain accurate logs of plant functions, chemical use, inventory of chemicals, need to schedule waste disposal and system activity.
- Waste Management : Oversee the scheduling, packaging, handling, transport, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
- Compliance and Safety : Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local environmental regulations and implement safety procedures for themselves and others onsite.
- Equipment Operation : Use and maintain mechanical devices, instruments, and material-handling equipment like forklifts and drum trucks. Follow safety guidelines by wearing proper & required PPE, safety equipment, including respirators, safety glasses, safety toe shoes, and ear protection and other equipment as required.
Skills & Qualifications :
Technical Skills : Proficiency in operating treatment systems, using analytical instruments, mechanical aptitude, and managing data using computer systems.Safety Awareness : Knowledge of industry safety protocols and the ability to wear and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE).Attention to Detail : A meticulous attitude towards waste management practices and regulatory compliance & up to date on State and Federal standards.Problem-Solving : Strong reasoning and problem-solving abilities to adapt to changing conditions.Communication : Effective oral and written communication skills for reporting and collaborating with colleagues and other outside reporting agencies.Education : An associate’s degree or Certificate in chemistry or environmental science or similar field is required or 3+ years of equivalent and relevant years of experience in similar role with certifications.Requirements :

HOURS : 6am – 2 : 30pm Monday - FridaySome overtime may be requiredMust be available for on-call hours & / or emergency response situationsAbility to regularly and frequently lift 50 poundsThe essential duties job may require the ability to stoop; to reach; to stand, and to walk for extended periods of time; to push and / or pull objects weighing up to 30 pounds; to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; to use finger dexterity to operate a computer and other office equipment and hand strength to grasp files and other objects; to perceive the attributes of objects by touch; to hear and verbally exchange ideas and information with the public, staff and others in the office. Frequently being on foot, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, climb stairs and kneeling and / or crouch to retrieve items. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate small power tools and other equipment. Writing to complete reports and service requests. Occasionally Lifting and carrying (with assistance) items weighing 75-150 lbs. Must be able to wear safety PPE equipment, as required.
