Description :
The clinical nurse utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care.
This position incorporates patient-family centered care principles.
The clinical nurse provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader.
Responsibilities include assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and discharge needs of patient / family / significant others.
The nurse applies the Core Concepts of Patient- and Family-Centered Care in practice.
The role personalizes care for each patient and family.
The nurse recognizes the impact of nursing care and patient / family partnerships on patient outcomes.
Collaboration with patient / family input is essential in planning care.
Quality care should meet or exceed expected standards.
The nurse provides assistance considering special needs, age-related, and cultural-related needs of patients.
Understanding the roles of the interdisciplinary team and utilizing them appropriately is necessary.
Delegation of appropriate tasks is expected.
Technical procedures and equipment use must be performed competently.
Documentation in the patient record should be timely, accurate, and concise.
Education strategies for patient / family must be developed and documented.
The nurse demonstrates leadership in the professional practice setting.
Ongoing personal education, mentoring peers, and educating patients and families is vital.
Staying updated with current health initiatives and incorporating evidence-based practice is required.
The nurse maintains current knowledge in the area of clinical practice.
Annual self-appraisals that include professional goals must be completed.
Participation in department-based activities and staff meetings is necessary.
Engagement in handoffs of care with all partners in care is expected.
Understanding and embracing the cultural traditions of the community served is important.
