Associate Dean, Educational Affairs
The University of Arizona College of Medicine Phoenix seeks a dynamic and qualified leader to serve as associate dean of Educational Affairs in the Office of Undergraduate Medical Education (UME). This position will report to the UME vice dean and serve as a member of the College of Medicine Phoenix (COM-P) UME leadership team. The associate dean of Educational Affairs will have responsibility for development and implementation of curricular and non-curricular elements that span all four years of UME. These include accreditation and continuous quality improvement, assessment and evaluation, faculty development, certificates of distinction, medical education research and the student research programs. Expertise in faculty development and / or medical education research, with the ability to guide innovation and growth in other areas, will be necessary. Working closely with the team of associate deans and their units to ensure compliance, integration and high-quality outcomes across shared educational objectives will be critical. Collaborative skills to engage successfully with a wide array of clinical partners and rural sites in a distributive educational model is key to ensuring delivery of our integrated curriculum. The UME curriculum includes system based foundational sciences, early primary care and specialty experiences for students, traditional clerkships, longitudinal integrated clerkships, electives and a robust career advising program for students, culminating in highly successful residency match outcomes. The ideal candidate will spend approximately 0.75 FTE fulfilling the responsibilities of the associate dean role and 0.25 FTE as a clinician in their specialty. If applicable, a nonclinical PhD candidate will be appointed at 1.0 FTE. The candidate must fulfill the responsibilities of a faculty member in an appropriate department and must qualify for an appointment at the rank of associate or full professor.
