About the Role :

The Medical Assistant in an orthopedic healthcare setting plays a critical role in supporting physicians and clinical staff to deliver high-quality patient care. This position involves preparing patients for examinations, assisting with orthopedic procedures, and managing clinical documentation to ensure accurate and efficient patient records. The Medical Assistant serves as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers, facilitating communication and ensuring patient comfort throughout their visit. Additionally, this role requires maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment, adhering to safety and infection control protocols. Ultimately, the Medical Assistant contributes to the smooth operation of the orthopedic practice, enhancing patient outcomes and satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
  • Basic knowledge of orthopedic terminology and procedures.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience working in an orthopedic or musculoskeletal healthcare setting.
  • Advanced certification in orthopedic medical assisting or related specialty.
  • Familiarity with medical billing and coding specific to orthopedics.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Bilingual abilities to support diverse patient populations.
  • Responsibilities :

  • Prepare patients for orthopedic examinations and procedures by taking vital signs, recording medical histories, and explaining treatment protocols.
  • Assist orthopedic physicians during clinical procedures, including casting, splinting, and minor surgical interventions.
  • Manage patient documentation, including updating electronic health records (EHR) with accurate clinical information and treatment plans.
  • Schedule patient appointments, coordinate referrals, and communicate effectively with patients regarding follow-up care and instructions.
  • Maintain clinical supplies and ensure compliance with infection control and safety standards within the orthopedic practice.
  • Skills :

    The required skills in orthopedics and medical assisting are applied daily to ensure patients receive specialized care tailored to musculoskeletal conditions. Medical assisting skills enable the candidate to efficiently prepare patients, assist with clinical procedures, and manage documentation, which are essential for smooth clinical operations. Orthopedic knowledge allows the Medical Assistant to understand physician instructions and patient needs, facilitating effective support during treatments such as casting or rehabilitation exercises.
