Overview

Join GDIT as a Senior Linux Systems Administrator and build an impactful career in enterprise IT, collaborating with people who are driven and resourceful like you. This role supports the CITS contract for USCENTCOM and involves managing, maintaining, and optimizing Linux-based servers in a complex enterprise environment with over 5,000 users, 1,000 servers, and 10,000 endpoints.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of Linux servers, virtual machines, and networking devices.
  • Troubleshoot server performance, ensure security compliance, and address system availability issues.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to implement infrastructure solutions that meet operational requirements and contribute to the overall efficiency and security of the organization's systems.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Certification : Applicable DoD 8140 or DoD 8570 Certification
  • Experience : 5+ years of related experience
  • Technical skills :
  • Building, deploying, and maintaining Linux server environments
  • Configuring and managing Linux services such as Apache, Nginx, DNS, DHCP, and LDAP
  • Ensuring proper functioning and security of web servers, including SSL / TLS certificate lifecycle management
  • Tuning system performance, ensuring uptime, and maintaining detailed system documentation
  • Implementing critical system patches and updates across Linux environments
  • Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving complex systems issues
  • Developing and enforcing system policies to optimize performance and security
  • Collaborating with other IT teams to design and implement Linux-based solutions
  • Participating in system upgrades, migrations, and new deployments
  • Providing mentorship and technical guidance to junior administrators
  • Reviewing and preparing system documentation, process guides, and troubleshooting procedures
  • Supporting projects aimed at improving security, efficiency, or capability of the Linux environment
  • Ensuring problems are tracked, escalated, and resolved at appropriate priority
  • Producing data sets and reports to inform management of system performance
  • Desired Skills :
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or higher
  • ITIL 4 Foundation Certification
  • Familiarity with USCENTCOM operational data systems, networks, and mission requirements
  • Security clearance level : TS / SCI clearance required
  • Role requirements :
  • Demonstrated proficiency in managing and troubleshooting Red Hat / CentOS Linux servers
  • Proven experience in systems administration and infrastructure management
  • Ability to review, modify, and prepare comprehensive documentation for systems administration tasks
