Position Summary
As Marine Machinery Mechanic Supervisor, you will lead a group of marine machinery mechanics to execute production work in support of CNO submarine availabilities in Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as assigned based on contract awards.
We are currently seeking supervisors with experience in the following trades :
- Electrician
- Electronics Mechanic
- Fire Watch
- Machinist
- Marine Machinery Mechanic
- Painter / Sandblaster
- Pipefitter
- Sheet Metal Worker
- Shipfitter
- Shipwright
- Welder
This will support public shipyard work onboard submarines.
Clearance Requirement
Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain / maintain a DoD Secret security clearanceEssential Functions and Responsibilities
Provides supervision to shipyard qualified tradesmanDirect activities of assigned tradesman to complete tasks in a timely manner and in accordance with safety, quality company and regulatory directivesCommunicates regularly with the Prime contractor, keeping them updated on the execution of the contract award.Maintain accurate timekeeping records, injury reports, employee conduct issues, worksite surveillance reports, and other duties as assigned.Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalentAt least 10 or more years of Public Shipyard or equivalent military training and / or experienceAt least 6+ years of Naval Shipyard supervisory experienceJourneyman qualifications or equivalent military training and / or experience as Marine Machinery Mechanic at the WG-10 levelMust have trades experience in Public Shipyards working on US Navy ShipsUnderstanding of local OSHA safety requirements and provide oversite of proper and safe work practicesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work effectively with others and follow Prime Contractor and LCE administrative guidelinesEffective organizational skillsFamiliarity with local shipyard instructions and procedures as they apply to his / her tradePrefer experience in any of the following shops : 11, 17, 26, 31, 38, 51, 56, 64, 71, 72 or 90 / 99Must have experience with tools of his / her tradeAbility to read and interpret Tech ManualsAbility to read drawings, blueprints and design sketchesAbility to read and follow technical work documents (Task Group Instructions written in AIM)Physical Demands and Expectations
