Structural Engineer (SE)

The Position

The Structural Engineer (SE) for Above Group shall contribute and support the Engineering efforts for the Firm. The SE shall possess a bachelors degree in Civil engineering, and a masters degree with a structural emphasis or equivalent, from an ABET accredited institution. This individual shall directly contribute to the Firm and its success through the application of knowledge and technical experience to effectively produce a quality design and ultimate product to the customer. The SE is also responsible for contributing to the growth of the team by leading and mentoring subordinate staff in expanding their capabilities and contributions. The SE shall execute design duties as required to ensure quality is always maintained.

The SE shall be a Structural Engineer registered as a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) and a licensed Structural Engineer (SE) passing the 16 hours NCEES exam, in the United States and / or its territories, at a minimum. Additional credentials are encouraged and desired.

• The SE is a Structural Engineer by education and experience, with the following characteristics :

Ability to combine personal judgment with information to establish and implement design criteria.

o Develops and implements design criteria and system designs from concept through detailed design and construction.

Collaborates with and mentors subordinate staff regarding their responsibilities on a daily basis.

Implements criteria and researches applicable codes, and investigates structural systems.

Uses excellent writing skills to author basis of design (BOD) narratives, design criteria documents, feasibility studies, condition assessment reports, engineering studies and reports, and other high quality highly technical written documents as needed.
