Manual Machinist (II)

Job Summary
The Manual Machinist is responsible for proficient operation of manual milling and lathe machines, with or without digital readout (DRO). This role is essential for performing high-quality maintenance and repairs on components that meet FAA-regulated specifications. The position includes machine setup, adjustment, and safe operation of equipment including appropriate tool selection and feed / speed determination.
Core Responsibilities
Review technical drawings, sketches, blueprints, or schematics before production
Perform machine setup and operate manual turning lathes or horizontal mills
Adjust controls to regulate machine feeds and speeds
Log jobs using Quantum Labor Scanning for tracking and accuracy
Machine components to precise tolerances and monitor machine progress
Inspect finished parts using gauges and micrometers to ensure quality
Maintain equipment through lubrication and cleanliness procedures
Comply with all safety regulations and maintain a clean work environment
Adhere to production schedules and record output accurately
Perform additional duties as assigned, including mandatory overtime as needed
Education & Experience
Requirements Required Skills & Abilities
Proficient in manual machine operation and machine shop equipment use
Skilled in machine setup, part alignment, and safe practices
Ability to produce precision work with tight tolerances
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
Familiarity with aerospace materials and machining principles (feeds / speeds)
Proficient in blueprint and schematic reading
Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions
Fluent in English, per FAA Part 145 requirements
Must comply with DOT drug and alcohol testing regulations (FAA Part 120)
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for prolonged periods, walk, sit, bend, and reach
Use of hands / fingers for equipment adjustments and tool manipulation
Regular lifting / moving of up to 25 lbs; frequent lifting up to 50 lbs; occasional lifting over 50 lbs with assistance
Visual acuity requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception
Regular exposure to noise from machines and tools
