POSITION : MRI Tech Aide
REPORTS TO : MRI Manager / Director and Reception Supervisor
JOB SUMMARY : Under the general supervision of the MRI Managing Director and Reception Supervisor, performs duties required to support the clinical and business operations of the MRI department and the medical practice ensuring services are provided in a professional, timely and courteous manner. These duties are performed in accordance with federal and state laws and regulations governing the privacy and security of patients' PHI (Private Health Information).
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS :
- High school diploma required
- Medical terminology
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE :
Minimum 1-year experience working in a physician group practiceKnowledge of Anatomy & Physiology, and medical terminologyAbility to perform multiple tasks simultaneouslyStrong written, telephone and verbal communication skillsNeat, professional appearanceResponsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following :
Greet and properly identify patientsSupport MRI Technologist by preparing patients for imaging.Understanding of the health screening questions, and possible risks associated with MR exams.Review Safety questionnaire with patient to ensure safety complianceProvide and explain exam and preps to patients utilizing knowledge of MRI safety to resolve patients' questions or concerns.Screen every patient to verify safety using MRI manufacturer guidelines, including but not limited to Gauss / Cm, magnet strength, placement and duration of all implants.Cleans dressing rooms after each patient to ensure safe clean environment.Prepares the imaging room for the next patient to maintain efficient work flow.Trained in MRI safety level II, and BLS as required by ACR.Ensures safety of each MRI patient and medical staff while in the high magnetic field environment.Maintains exam room and dressing room suppliesMaintains cleanliness of imaging room and control room to ensure a positive and clean environment for patients and staffAct as liaison between patient and other staff, including medical assistants, physicians, physician assistants, administrative assistants, etc.Maintain excellent communication with technologist and patients regarding wait times or physician delays.Demonstrates the ability to react to a potentially dangerous "quench" situationIn the event of a medical emergency, removes the patient from the MRI exam room and demonstrates knowledge of what steps to take.Reviews and meets ongoing competency requirements of the role to maintain the skills, knowledge and abilities to perform, within scope, role specific functions.Rotate and cover each MRI location based on operational needs, which may include a shift or hour change.Maintain patient confidentialityOther :
Maintain patient confidentiality; Comply with HIPAA and compliance guidelines established by the practice.Maintain detailed knowledge of practice management, and other computer software, as it relates to job functions.Attend regular staff meetings and continuing education sessions, as requested.Typical Physical Demands :
Work may require sitting for long periods of time, and also stooping, bending and stretching for f supplies. Employee will occasionally be asked to lift files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds. Position requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, operate a computer, telephone, copier, and such other office equipment, as necessary. Vision must be correctable to 20 / 20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts. Position also requires viewing computer screens and typing for long periods of time.
