This position is located in St. George, LA.
Responsibilities
- Interfacing with all customers to service their building department related needs.
- Issuing and / or tracking permits through the permitting process, beginning with application acceptance, plan review, inspections and permit closure.
- Establishing and maintaining systems to ensure that all files, letters, reference manuals, field inspection reports, permit files, blueprints, drawings, and other data or material are organized.
- Working with plan examiners and inspectors throughout the company to develop and ensure consistent processes.
- Assisting with public record requests.
- Collecting permit fees at the end of the day; filling out daily cash collection sheets; dropping collected fees in safe.
- Performing a variety of skilled secretarial functions; providing administrative support to departmental personnel; preparing correspondence, reports, and other documentation; updates, scans, and maintains the Department's records and files.
- This position may require working additional hours, over weekends, or on holidays. The incumbent must be available to work these extra hours with little to no advanced notice.
- Other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED requiredBachelor's degree in a relevant field is desired.Minimum 3 years of experience performing similar duties / tasks.Minimum typing speed of 50 WPM.Skills
Ability to positively interact with staff, the general public, contractors, governmental entities, and other clients.Good time management, organization, telephone communication skills, attention to detail, and people skills.Ability to multi-task with frequent interruptions.Critical thinking, independent judgment, and technical knowledge.Self-motivated and takes initiative.Excellent Microsoft Office skills and permitting software experience.Personal Qualities
