Finance Overview :

The International Finance Office manages TechnoServe's accounting and reporting function for global operations. The function lies within the Office of the Chief Financial Officer along with Grants and Contracts, Planning and Budgeting, and Internal Audit. The International Finance staff coordinate and communicate internally and externally in support of the TechnoServe global network.

Job Summary :

Perform day to day accounting operations for the home office including journal entries, general ledger reconciliation and receivables. The position will play a key role in ensuring books are closed accurately and in a timely manner in compliance with the US generally accepted accounting standards and ensure audit readiness for the home office. The ideal candidate will have experience in accounting, and familiarity with the financial monthly closing processes. They will also have a desire to work in an environment that promotes open, multicultural communication, and coordination.

Primary Functions & Responsibilities :

  • Prepare accurate and timely journal entries and general ledger reconciliation schedules
  • Maintain up-to-date fixed asset ledger accounts including posting of depreciation entries
  • Review subaward financial reports, including invoices, advance payment requests, and liquidation forms, to ensure accuracy and compliance with grant agreements, and prepare and post the corresponding entries in Sylogist
  • Review and approve the work of the AP team to ensure all transactions are accurate and compliant before posting in Sylogist
  • Review global banking activities related to revenue, cash receipts and assist with timely bank reconciliations
  • Assist with the monthly close and ensure timely completion of all required schedules in compliance to US GAAP
  • Ensure accurate reconciliation of all intercompany accounts
  • Assist in maintaining up to date finance and accounting policies and procedures;
  • Ensure global compliance with US GAAP, TNS's financial policies and procedures, statutory and donor compliance requirements
  • Support donor, statutory and organizational audits by preparing accurate schedules and supporting documentation
  • Perform other duties as required

Basic Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting with a minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting & financial management, or a Master's degree with 3 years of experience
  • Experience analyzing G / L accounts and resolving transaction discrepancies and errors in a timely manner
  • Required Languages : English

    Preferred Qualifications :

  • CPA, ACCA a plus
  • MS Dynamics NAV / Sylogist financial system
  • Knowledge of fund-based accounting
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal, organizational and written skills
  • Excellent analytical and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as an integral part of a team
  • Accustomed to working in fast-paced environments while providing high quality, accurate and timely information
  • Note : Applicants must be eligible for employment in the US at the time of application. This is a hybrid position, and candidates must be able to work from our Arlington, Virginia, Headquarters as determined by their supervisor.
