Nursing House Supervisor - Full-time / Nights
The Nursing Supervisor Functions as the representative of Hospital Administration and as such is accountable for actions and decisions made within the realm of that authority. Mediates and / or resolves problems within Nursing and / or other functioning departments during the shift. Functions as advisor, coordinator and facilitator to in pursuing daily activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Participates in the orientation, training, supervision and evaluation of nursing personnel assigned to the day shift. Confers with Medical staff and other departments to coordinate activities concerning nursing service.
- Accepts reports from preceding shift, adjusts staffing according to requirements, and advises on-coming shift of conditions.
- Makes rounds, visits patients, and observes quality of patient care. Reviews patient condition reports and nursing care plans, and counsels nursing personnel as necessary.
- Analyzes nursing service to improve patient care and better utilize personnel and equipment, assists formulating nursing objectives and operates shift to achieve objectives. Participates in nursing in-service programs, seminars, committees, etc. as requested.
- Maintains statistics, records and prepares reports as required.
- Responds to emergency needs in units and assists with nursing procedures as necessary, responds to Code Blues and reports any unusual incidents to the VP-of Nursing as soon as possible.
- Participates in preparing the Department's annual budget, Quality Assurance efforts and risk management.
- Initiates Disaster Plan when appropriate.
- Plans and organizes work, defines assignments, and carries out assignments effectively. Independently anticipates, obtains, integrates and responds appropriately to the age-related patient psychosocial and physical needs.
- Interprets policies and procedures to patients and visitors as necessary and assures that all assigned personnel know them. Reviews and handles to conclusion some cases with outside agencies such as Coroner's Office, Police Dept., etc.
Qualifications :
Current IL RN licenseMinimum of 3 years of Nursing Management experience is required.CPR certificationPay or shift range : $45 USD to $60 USD
The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.
