Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a night shift assignment requiring Epic proficiency and a CT RN license.
Responsibilities
Work in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) within an acute care hospital setting24-bed unit with high-acuity patients such as CVA, TPA, AAA, MI (diagnostic only), hypertension, overdose, ETOH detox, GI bleed, septic shock, and moreNurse-to-patient ratios : ICU 1 : 2 or 1 : 1 depending on acuity, IMCU 1 : 3 days and 1 : 4 nightsAll rooms equipped with Phillips Intelevue monitors; nurses must interpret rhythm stripsAll drips are titrated and have experience with vents (Avea in ICU, Bipap in IMCU) and external temporary pacersEpic charting system in use12-hour night shifts starting at 7pm; four 12-hour shifts per weekRequired to work every other weekend and every other holidayFloat to telemetry or IMCU possible, with ratios up to 1 : 5 on those unitsScrub color requirement is Caribbean blue; black or white shirts allowed under uniform, pants may be black or Caribbean blueCare for very high acuity patients, including homeless, substance abuse, and mental health populationsCharge nurse typically does not take patient assignmentsSupport staff includes nurse aides (1 : 8), monitor techs, respiratory therapists, and pharmacy available 24 / 7IV team available 7am-8 : 30pm, nurse resource support 24 / 7Floor-specific orientation consists of 2 shiftsMust not have outside employment during assignmentNo time off (RTO) permitted during the first two weeks; minimal RTO considered afterFirst-time travelers will not be considered for this roleRequirements
Active CT RN license requiredMinimum 2 years of recent ICU experienceAdvanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications requiredEpic EMR experience requiredPrior travel nurse experience requiredAbility to interpret cardiac rhythm stripsStrong customer service, flexibility, empathy, and teamwork skillsBenefits
