Radiologic Technologist - FCC Yazoo City

Federal Correctional Complex (FCC)-Yazoo City Health Services Department 2225 Haley Barbour Parkway Yazoo City, Mississippi 39194

  • Citizenship Requirements : Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Clearance Requirements : National Background Check with Inquiries, Fingerprints, and Drug Screen.
  • Type of Employment : Full-Time, 40 hours per week.
  • Period of Performance : Base Year plus four (4) Option Years
  • Estimate Pay : $28.18 33.27 / hour.
  • Paid Time Off per Year : Up to 80 hours per year, occurring on day one.
  • Sick Leave per Year : Up to 56 hours per year, occurring on day one.
  • Paid Federal Holidays : Eleven (11) Paid Federal Holidays

Working Hours

The Radiologic Technologist will normally work from Monday through Thursday from 7 : 30am to 4 : 00pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. The Pharmacy Technician will not work more than 40 hours a week.

Summary of Duties

Radiologic Technologist is responsible for performing venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures with precision, professionalism, and adherence to established protocols. This includes specimen identification, labeling, and handling to support diagnostic testing and patient care. The Phlebotomist interacts directly with patients, providing compassionate service while maintaining infection control standards and patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Must be licensed to perform radiological procedures by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists.
  • A valid certification to practice in the state of Mississippi as a Radiological Technologist.
  • Be a graduate from an accredited school or program for a Radiological Technologist.
  • Knowledge and use of digital radiological equipment.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of Radiological Technologist experience.
  • Must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified either by the American Red Cross (ARC)or the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Copies of all certifications and resumes must be forwarded with your application.

    • Attire

    The contractor is expected to wear professional clothing while on duty (scrub uniforms are approved). The attire worn shall also be appropriate for the correctional environment in which the BPA employee will be performing. The contractor is prohibited from wearing khaki or green, as this is the color of clothing the adults in custody wear.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    The current radiological equipment provided at FCC Yazoo City is a digital machine.

  • Perform routine radiologic procedures ordered by the medical staff for the AIC population at FCC Yazoo City.
  • Transmit, retrieve X-ray images and report electronically, and scan reports into the Adults in Custody (AICs) Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR).
  • Receive training to retrieve radiographic consultants from BEMR and schedule them to perform all radiographic procedures.
  • Work with an AIC population from a variety of cultural, racial, religious, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Evaluate radiographic equipment for calibrations and repairs. Possess knowledge of basic emergencies that may occur during special radiographic procedures.
  • Schedule exams and maintain records. Possess knowledge of various pathological abnormalities as demonstrated by radiographic imaging.
  • Independently assess and select technical exposure factors and positions necessary to obtain a proper quality diagnostic exam.
  • Receive patients and explain procedures to alleviate undue anxiety. Independently perform all radiographic procedures, i.e., chest, bone, skull, spines, and portable x-rays, etc.
  • Notify the Radiologist or referring Physician of any preliminary abnormalities seen while the patient is undergoing an exam, so that additional views or exams can be ordered if needed.
  • Coordinate transfer of patient radiologic records to ensure continuity of care. Work with the Clinical Director to ensure monitoring and evaluation activities are completed.
  • Act as liaison between radiologist and medical staff.
  • Receive training and orientation and comply with correctional techniques as they pertain to medical services.
  • Develop a working knowledge of FCC Yazoo Citys medical protocols.
  • Wear outer protective clothing and always obey CDC universal precautions.
  • Computerization and printing of daily log; Computerization and printing of exam requisitions.
  • Print of all folders and exam labels.
  • Completing all X-ray studies ordered by the medical staff.
  • Preparing X-rays for shipment to the radiologist for interpretation.
  • Transport of X-rays to the radiologist for interpretation; Transport all X-rays from the radiologist after interpretation.
  • Assisting the staff with maintenance of equipment and supplies, and notifying staff when supplies are needed.
  • Conducting quality assurance tests and daily maintenance on X-ray equipment as needed.
  • Assisting with FDA inspections and preparation for TJC and program review as needed.
  • Assuring that all X-ray requests are correctly completed.
  • Computerization of patient logs and repeat analysis, and assisting with any additional clerical duties, including but not limited to filing.
