About The Position
Job Title : Operating Room Nurse
Profession : Nursing
Specialty : Operating Room / Circulation & Scrub
Duration : 13 weeks
Shift : 8-hour shifts Monday to Friday
Hours per Shift : 0630-1500 and / or 0900-1730
Experience : Minimum of 2 years in Operating Room
License : Licensed as a Registered Nurse
Certifications : Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Must-Have :
Completion of an accredited registered nurse program is required; BSN preferred.
2 years prior Operating Room experience is required.
Demonstrated knowledge of perioperative nursing practices.
Description :
Responsible to the Director of Surgical Services and related supervisory personnel for overall nursing practice.
Provides professional nursing care based on current perioperative nursing knowledge.
Utilizes Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN) Standards and Recommended Practice for perioperative nursing.
Conducts thorough assessments of patients and pertinent health data.
Analyzes collected data based on perioperative nursing theory and experience.
Develops a comprehensive plan of care to meet patient needs.
Implements nursing interventions based on current practice standards.
Evaluates patient care outcomes across all age populations.
Effectively functions as a team member and as a liaison between patient and staff.
Supports and encourages harmonious communication skills.
Exhibits strong verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills.
Maintains professionalism in all communications.
Demonstrates high mental and emotional tolerance when dealing with patients and families.
Utilizes tact, sensitivity, sound judgment, and a professional attitude in all interactions.
Accepts responsibility and accountability for maintaining knowledge, skills, and competency in perioperative nursing.
Remains current on concepts, trends, scientific advances, biomedical equipment, and ethics related to perioperative nursing.
Develops a plan of care based on ongoing assessments in various settings.
Identifies strengths and weaknesses in relation to surgical interventions.
Updates the care plan to address existing or potential patient problems.
Maintains a sterile field throughout procedures following aseptic principles.
Recognizes changes in health care status and directs appropriate care.
Applies principles of aseptic technique, surgical technique, and patient care management.
Documents individualized changes in the plan of care.
Provides health education to patients and families regarding specific surgical functions.
Documents patient interactions appropriately.
Maintains awareness of professional issues and advances in the field.
