Salary : $100K-$120K

Job Title : Senior Cost Accountant

Location : El Cajon, CA

Employment Type : Full-Time, Exempt

Reports To : Corporate Controller

About the Role

Our construction client is looking for a hands-on, experienced Senior Cost Accountant to lead accounting and administrative functions for our construction operations. In this role, youll ensure accuracy across project accounting, lead a dedicated accounting team, and work closely with leadership including the President, Project Managers, Estimators, and Corporate Finance.

What Youll Do

Supervise and support one project accountant
Manage all aspects of project accounting : requisitions, forecasting (CTC / WIP), over / under billings, and project cash tracking
Oversee subcontractor billing compliance and invoice processing
Lead regional cash collection and forecasting
Prepare monthly P&L forecasts, finalize WIP, and present financials to leadership
Monitor SG&A expenses and align spending with budgets
Track backlog, identify CapEx needs, and oversee warehouse / equipment / inventory accounting
Act as liaison between Risk Management and project teams
Ensure smooth communication between division and Corporate Accounting

What Were Looking For

Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business

5+ years of construction accounting experience

Management experience preferred, not required

Proficiency in job cost accounting and WIP reporting

Strong understanding of industry-specific financial procedures and compliance

Compensation / Perks :

Salary : $110K-$120K per year, 10% guaranteed annual bonus, plus generous benefits including medical, dental, vision, paid vacation and sick days, 8 paid holidays plus 1 floating holiday, 401K match and great work / life balance.
