Position Title : Professor, Audio Engineering – Central Campus
Responsibilities
- Keep up with developments in the field of study
- Demonstrate high standards – academic and professional
- Evaluate student work constructively and provide timely feedback
- Teach at days, times and locations that meet student needs
- Provide access to students through posted conference hours, electronic communications, and other appropriate methods and respond to inquiries in a timely manner
- Evaluate and recommend instructional materials
- Develop and use a syllabus and course information materials for each course, laboratory, or clinical setting within state, college, and departmental guidelines
Professional Development
Maintain high standards of competence in the discipline and teaching methodologies through professional development activitiesUse effective teaching methods and materials that reflect thoughtful planning, assist students in meeting course objectives, are appropriate for students with varied backgrounds and learning styles, and engage students in learningEvaluate program curricula and teaching methods through a process of self‑reflectionMeet or exceed professional standards, state‑mandated guidelines, and business / industry / higher education requirements, as appropriate to the disciplineService

Teach 15‑16 hours per week from the following list of classes, as appropriate :
Survey of Music BusinessAudio Electronic TroubleshootingAudio Engineering I‑IIIMIDI ILive Sound I‑II IAudio Engineering PracticesAdvanced Mixing TechniquesCommercial Music SoftwareInternship—Audio EngineeringInstructor is expected to actively support and promote the department within the community. Maintain active liaisons with high schools, universities, business, industry or external agencies and assist with program advisory committees as appropriate. Complete instructional duties, reports, and paperwork assigned by college leadership in a timely manner.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Demonstrate commitment to student success through teachingHave innovative plans for recruiting audio majors to the departmentHave additional professional audio engineering experienceActively support and promote the department within the college and community at large through advisory committee participation, student organizations, events, masterclasses, and workshopsEffective interpersonal skills with an ability to collaborate with other fine arts departmentsExperience with technology‑enhanced learning platforms preferredMembership and / or associations with audio engineering and / or music‑based community and professional organizationsStrong communication skills are requiredRequired Education & Experience
Associate's degree, with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in audio engineering, recording studio, and live sound applicationsExperience with both analog and digital consoles and related equipmentAdvanced knowledge of Pro Tools softwarePreferred Education & Experience
Bachelor’s or higher degree preferredDemonstrated experience teaching at the collegiate or secondary levelBilingual applicants are encouraged to apply
Faculty are assigned to teach courses using various delivery methods based on the teaching area and the needs of students and the College, which may require a physical presence at the assigned on‑site work location.
