GENERAL SUMMARY : In collaboration with the Registered Nurse Manager (RN), responsible for the routine functioning of the Endoscopy Center. Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and coordinating patient care from admission to discharge. The Charge Nurse is responsible for assisting with the achievement of patient outcomes with the mission of the facility.
Provides individualized and specialized nursing care to patients within the endoscopy center in accordance with physician’s orders, recognized nursing techniques, legal aspects of current nurse practice in the State of Georgia and the Center’s policies and procedures. The Charge Nurse is responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating the nursing care given to patients. Will have contact with the patient in each phase of his experience. Must be self-directed and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Required Education, Skills & Experience
A minimum of 2 years hospital experience. Experience in GI endoscopy and management experience preferred. Current State license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Georgia. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Basic Cardiac Life Support certification. ACLS certification is recommended, but optional. Completion of Airway Management Module is required prior to administering IV conscious sedation. Score of 95% on conscious sedation module and post-test.
PHYSICAL / MENTAL / ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
Mental demands include the ability to handle several directives, set priorities, composure and mental stability to adapt to stressful situations. Physical demands include full range of body motion including handling and lifting of patients, pulling, pushing and reaching. Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and / or crawl. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time, lifting and carrying of items weighting up to 25 pounds.
