We are looking for an eCommerce Architect who thrives on solving complex challenges and driving digital transformation across a modern retail ecosystem. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of our technology platforms by building scalable, innovative solutions across product, UX, engineering, data, and marketing functions. We're seeking a strategic thinker with strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and a collaborative mindset. Experience in the apparel or retail industries is helpful but not required.

What You'll Do :

  • Define and lead the implementation of architectural strategies aligned with enterprise goals in retail and digital commerce.
  • Design and deliver integrated solutions addressing infrastructure, automation, resiliency, governance, and security.
  • Conduct assessments on cloud readiness, modernization initiatives, and cost optimization across digital retail systems.
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance to cross-functional teams to ensure architectural consistency and performance.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to implement scalable, customer-centric digital commerce solutions.
  • Champion best practices in solution delivery, cloud adoption, omnichannel integration, and mobile experience enablement.
  • Help guide build vs. buy decisions, and support productization and deployment of third-party platforms and services.
  • Maintain a forward-thinking approach to technology, embracing innovation, reducing technical debt, and promoting engineering efficiency.
  • Ensure new web and mobile features are architected elegantly so as not to break the Shopify framework
  • Understand the front and back end ecosystems, integrations, and data flows. Perform an evaluation and potential RFP for a new ecommerce platform if it's determined that Shopify is not sustainable for the growth needed.

What You Bring :

  • 10+ years of technical experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, architecting complex enterprise solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with e-commerce platforms like Shopify.
  • Hands-on experience driving composable commerce solutions for B2C environments across mobile, web, and app platforms utilizing headless architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, Next.js) and headless
  • Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot for backend architecture and service development.
  • Deep understanding of cloud-native architectures and experience across major platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Practical use of AI and data-centric models to enhance backend systems and digital customer engagement.
  • Strong grasp of system design principles, including scalability, fault tolerance, and operational efficiency.
  • Familiarity with modern development tools and methodologies such as Agile, CI / CD, DevOps, and automation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to work across global, distributed teams.
  • Skilled in mentoring engineering teams, promoting collaboration, and removing technical blockers.
  • Exposure to UX design methodologies and integrating third-party APIs and tools to extend platform capabilities.

  • Additional Responsibilities :

  • Participate in OP monthly team meetings and participate in team-building efforts.
  • Contribute to OP technical discussions, peer reviews, etc.
  • Contribute content and collaborate via the OP-Wiki / Knowledge Base.
  • Provide status reports to OP Account Management as requested.
