About the role

The Test Engineer at magniX will be responsible for the development and execution of testing activities to support the electric powertrain engineering validation, the certification testing to FAA Part 33 standards, the production acceptance tests, and any test aimed at improving the performance of the electric powertrain once in the field. They will work closely internally with our design engineering, manufacturing, and certification teams, as well as externally with DERs and the FAA to ensure tests are conducted to obtain the highest quality data efficiently and safely.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Manage and operate dynamometer test cells for development, certification, and entry-into-service
  • Develop and maintain test instructions, test plans, test reports, test data sets and related documentation within a quality management framework
  • Develop novel approaches to test cell and EPU control, measurement and data acquisition and reduction processing using LabVIEW, HBM Perception and Python
  • Design and participate in the commissioning of high-power electrical test equipment
  • Support test equipment upgrades from purchase through installation, operation, and maintenance to ensure facility availability
  • Support integration of the EPUs into flying test beds and support flight test activities
  • Work closely with design, integration, and certification engineers in cross functional teams supporting test article and test instrumentation definition.
  • Design, creation, and management of instrumentation controls such as calibrations, checkouts, filtering, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Software, or Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 3+ years’ experience in a development or integration / hardware test technical role,
  • Experience working with electrical systems including HVDC sources, batteries and supporting equipment
  • Proficiency with LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python, C++
  • Strong mechanical engineering knowledge and skills
  • Preferred :

  • 3+ years of instrumentation or data acquisition system design experience desired
  • Experience of test of Aerospace Gas Turbine or Piston Engines or Battery technology desired
  • Experience with Solidworks Electrical or similar for designing schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Understanding of propulsion system development or battery technology development, validation and verification, and FAA certification.
  • Location

  • Applicants must be willing and able to commute to magniX's location in Everett, Washington.
  • Shift : : Typically 8-5, occasional need for 2nd shift flexibility.
