Schedule : 5 days / week | 37.5 hrs per week | 8 hrs per day
Shift : Variable | On-call required | Must have PACU recovery experience with intubated post-surgical patients
Job Summary
The PACU Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse responsible for delivering safe, evidence-based, patient-centered care to post-surgical patients, including those recovering from intubation. This role requires strong clinical judgment, advanced assessment skills, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes.
Skills & Experience
Required :
- Active NYS RN License
- BLS & ACLS (AHA required)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience , including post-op management and medicated drips
- Proven PACU / recovery room experience with intubated patients
Preferred :
BSN preferred (ASN considered with strong relevant experience or active BSN enrollment).EPIC EMR experienceTravel RN experience (preferred but not required for per diem).Unit Info :

Patient Care
Deliver nursing care using the professional practice model of Relationship Centered Care.Assess, monitor, and evaluate patients recovering from anesthesia, including ventilated patients.Manage post-op drips and provide critical interventions as required.Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members to implement individualized care plans.Provide patient and caregiver education regarding care, recovery, and prevention.Patient Experience
Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families.Perform bedside shift reports, purposeful hourly rounding, and patient education.Actively support a culture of empathy, compassion, and respect.Escalate patient / family concerns to leadership as necessary.Quality & Safety
Adhere to all hospital safety protocols, including high-risk medication management and infection control.Participate in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice projects.Escalate safety concerns through proper institutional channels.Accurately document patient care to meet legal and regulatory standards.Operations & Professional Development
Perform charge nurse duties when assigned.Ensure adequate supply and equipment utilization for patient care.Support throughput and patient flow within the PACU.Participate in unit councils, committees, and ongoing clinical education.
