Senior Center Manager
This requisition expires on September 19, 2025 but may close earlier if the position is filled prior to the expiration date. Responsible for supervising staff, facilities, and operations for assigned Parks and Recreation Division.
Essential Functions and Other Important Duties
DUTIES
- Supervise staff and / or volunteers including, but not limited to, ensure external stakeholder needs are met with appropriate program and / or activity availability, complete schedules, review and approve payroll, evaluate staff and customer interactions, seek opportunities to increase staff knowledge, and provide feedback and training on department and City of Denton policies and procedures, as appropriate.
- Perform activities in assigned areas including, but not limited to, plan, organize, and evaluate all division aspects and programs, generate reports, evaluate fee schedules and programs, analyze financial and trend reports and provide recommendations for improvement and / or growth, assist with marketing plan development and implementation to increase revenue, and assist with special events.
- Assist with development of goals, strategies, and business plans to ensure effective center operations; monitor, track, and provide recommendations on programs, activities, and initiatives to achieve established goals, strategies, and plans.
- Review, understand, and enforce department policies; provide recommendations to improve program and / or processes, customer experiences, and achieve goals.
- Identify and recommend potential Capital Improvement Project (CIP) opportunities.
- Oversee expansion, renovation, and / or construction of facilities and assist with CIP including design, revenue and expenditure projections.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to acquire competitive quotes, complete appropriate documents for purchasing equipment and materials, and obtain supply services from contracted vendors, as needed.
- Act as liaison to volunteer agencies, public schools, universities, organizations, and agencies in establishing and implementing specialty programs.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and represent the City with committees and organizations.
- Investigate internal and external stakeholder concerns; perform research for issues coordinates and facilitates necessary actions to resolve concern as appropriate; when necessary, communicate directly for identification of service needs and address concern with appropriate written, verbal, or in-person follow-up.
LEISURE SERVICES
Supervise all recreational activities and programs for citizens of all ages based on facility needs including, but not limited to, oversee the planning and organizing of all activities and programs, monitor, evaluate, and provide recommendations on activity and program improvement and engagement.Promote potential revenue expansion through various innovative resources.Coordinate facility inspections, maintenance, and repairs.SUPERVISORY / BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES
Select, train, supervise, and evaluate staff; recommend assignment / assignment change, retention, discipline, and dismissal.Develop, manage, and monitor budget; maintain accurate budget reporting; ensure that operations are cost-effective, and funds are managed wisely.OTHER DUTIES

Job Requirements
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Parks and Recreation Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field; and,One (1) year experience in management or supervisory capacity; and,Must have or obtain Red Cross or American Heart Association Adult CPR, AED & First Aid Certification within 30 days of employment or completed at the next City of Denton offered course (online training is not valid).OR
Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job.REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES
