Job Title : ASC Front Office Surgery Scheduler

Department : Front Office / Scheduling

Reports To : Practice Manager / ASC Administrator

Location : La Mesa

Employment Type : Full-Time

Position Summary :

The ASC Front Office Surgery Scheduler is responsible for coordinating and scheduling surgical procedures at the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). This role serves as the primary point of contact between patients, physicians, and surgical staff to ensure timely, accurate scheduling and preoperative preparation. The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced medical office environment.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and patients.
  • Verify surgery times, locations, required equipment, and staff availability.
  • Obtain prior authorizations and insurance verifications for scheduled procedures.
  • Communicate pre-operative instructions to patients and ensure completion of necessary paperwork and lab work.
  • Input and maintain accurate scheduling information in the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
  • Collaborate with the billing department to confirm payer coverage and patient responsibility.
  • Manage surgical calendar to avoid conflicts and ensure optimal use of ASC resources.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries from patients, surgeons, and staff regarding scheduling issues.
  • Assist front desk staff with check-in / out, phones, and other administrative tasks as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and ASC regulatory requirements.

Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a medical office or surgical scheduling environment (required).
  • Familiarity with insurance processes and medical terminology (preferred).
  • Strong computer skills, including EMR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all situations.
  • Working Conditions :

  • Office environment within an Ambulatory Surgery Center.
  • May require occasional lifting of office supplies or patient charts.
  • Fast-paced setting with frequent interaction with patients and healthcare providers.
