American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med / Surg night shift position that requires flexibility for weekends and floating, with strong trauma experience preferred.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a hospital medical-surgical unit specializing in trauma cases such as GSW, blunt trauma, stab wounds, MVC, falls, orthopedic injuries, ostomies, hernia repairs, skin flaps, significant wounds, and surgical drainsNight shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19 : 00–07 : 30)Staffing ratios are typically 1 : 5-6Floating is required to other levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) within the hospital and to affiliate hospitalsWeekend work required for 50% of contracted weekends, based on unit needsCerner EMR is used; prior Cerner experience is required or preferredTravel nurses may be asked to assume charge nurse responsibilities, with training and support providedDaily duties include caring for complex trauma and surgical patientsPre-employment online modules must be completed before start dateFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyHoliday coverage is required for 2 out of 3 major holidaysUp to 5 days of non-holiday RTO are auto-approved; more requires facility approval\n \n Requirements\n
Active IN or Compact RN license in hand, or fingerprint application package submittedMinimum of 18 months to 2 years recent Med / Surg RN experience; Level I trauma experience preferredCurrent BCLS (AHA or RQI accepted) certification requiredNursing degree from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNEAbility and willingness to precept or be assigned students to shadowMust provide SSN and DOB for considerationTwo supervisor references requiredMust not be a local IN resident; locals not accepted for this positionOne year break from any prior perm or PRN IU employment before applying\n Benefits\n
