Job Description\n

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med / Surg night shift position that requires flexibility for weekends and floating, with strong trauma experience preferred.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a hospital medical-surgical unit specializing in trauma cases such as GSW, blunt trauma, stab wounds, MVC, falls, orthopedic injuries, ostomies, hernia repairs, skin flaps, significant wounds, and surgical drains
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19 : 00–07 : 30)
  • Staffing ratios are typically 1 : 5-6
  • Floating is required to other levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) within the hospital and to affiliate hospitals
  • Weekend work required for 50% of contracted weekends, based on unit needs
  • Cerner EMR is used; prior Cerner experience is required or preferred
  • Travel nurses may be asked to assume charge nurse responsibilities, with training and support provided
  • Daily duties include caring for complex trauma and surgical patients
  • Pre-employment online modules must be completed before start date
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Holiday coverage is required for 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO are auto-approved; more requires facility approval
  • \n \n Requirements\n

  • Active IN or Compact RN license in hand, or fingerprint application package submitted
  • Minimum of 18 months to 2 years recent Med / Surg RN experience; Level I trauma experience preferred
  • Current BCLS (AHA or RQI accepted) certification required
  • Nursing degree from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE
  • Ability and willingness to precept or be assigned students to shadow
  • Must provide SSN and DOB for consideration
  • Two supervisor references required
  • Must not be a local IN resident; locals not accepted for this position
  • One year break from any prior perm or PRN IU employment before applying
